Overview
nWave Pictures is the first fully integrated digital studio in the world specializing exclusively in the production of software for the location based entertainment market (ride films, virtual reality, etc.) and the large film format industry (15 perf. 70mm films/IMAX ® films, 10 perf. 70mm and 8 perf. 70mm).

Founded by Ben Stassen and Brussels based D&D Entertainment Group in 1994, nWave Pictures along with its sister companies Movida and Trix, became a pioneer in the use of computer technology for the production of ride films. Combining computer generated imagery (CGI) with live action filmmaking, nWave Pictures has risen rapidly to the forefront of the industry releasing more than 50% of the worldwide supply of new titles. In early 1995, Charlotte Huggins, one of the top producers in special venue filmmaking joined forces with nWave to establish the Los Angeles office of the company.

In its first two years, nWave Pictures produced a series of ride films in joint venture with motion simulation hardware companies (Cosmic Pinball, Dracula's Haunted Castle, Moon Raid Alpha, Astro Canyon Coaster, etc.). The strong demand for new products soon led the company to embark on an ambitious program to self-finance a minimum of four ride films per year, and to make them available on a non-exclusive basis in all film and video formats to all the hardware companies.

In 1995, "VOLCANO MINE RIDE" became the first ride film to be distributed non-exclusively by competing motion simulation hardware companies.

Today, nWave Pictures boasts the largest library of independently produced ride films available non-exclusively in most film and video formats from 8 perf. and 5 perf. 70mm to HD and Standard video formats.

Having established a strong presence in the motion simulation film industry, the next logical step for nWave Pictures was to venture into the realm of large format film production, a.k.a. IMAX ® Films. THRILL RIDE: THE SCIENCE OF FUN , a worldwide release by Sony Pictures Classics is the company's first full-length large format film. Since its release in July 1997, Thrill Ride has been consistently in the Top 60 at the US box office. As of June 1999, Sony Pictures Classics has licensed the film to over 100 large format theaters worldwide.

In February 1999, nWave Pictures Distribution released "ENCOUNTER IN THE THIRD DIMENSION", the company's first large format 3-D film. Starring Stuart Pankin and Elvira, "Encounter" takes the viewer on a wild ride through the history of 3-D cinema. "ALIEN ADVENTURE", nWave Pictures' second 3-D title was released in the Fall of 1999. This sci-fi comedy, tells the story of a band of space gypsies who land in the middle of a theme park.

nWave Pictures latest release is Haunted Castle.
